What is DE&I? How does it affect Pathologists’ Assistants, and what we can do collectively to promote greater diversity, equity, and inclusion within our community?

The AAPA is hosting a four-part series to launch conversations around this important topic to identify and address these questions and many more. We hope you’ll join us as we kick off with the first webinar on Sunday, March 20, 2022 at 6pm CDT.

The first webinar offering will feature a roundtable discussion moderated by AAPA Student Committee Public Relations Chair Juniper Fedor, and include a group of your peers with diverse backgrounds and experiences with DE&I in the PA community and within their own lives. The group will be discussing DE&I issues in the PA profession surrounding race, gender, accessibility, and outreach, just to name a few.

At the end of the webinar, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify and discuss issues of race, identity, culture, power, and belonging, and how it affects Pathologists’ Assistants in the modern workplace.
  2. Define allyship, and list three ways to be a good ally in the lab and in your community.
  3. List three ways Pathologists’ Assistants can build meaningful, sustainable, and supportive partnerships with their workplace to contribute to a more inclusive work environment.
  4. Create intentional opportunities for Pathologists’ Assistants to actively promote diversity and equity in the PA community.

We will be taking questions and talking points from the audience and community, as well. If you would like to recommend a talking point or relay any DE&I issues you have encountered as a PA, or have questions to pre-submit, you can submit them during registration or send them via email to [email protected].
