A Town Hall on the 2021 AAPA Membership & Salary Survey was held on Tuesday, November 16, 2021. Members were invited to join via GoToWebinar and download the survey results from the member community section of the AAPA website. Presenters included Kerri Arnold, our third party survey administrator from Newport Group, along with Membership Committee Vice Chair Shanice Bedassie, Advocacy Subcommittee Chair Sarah Garner, and BOT Oversight of Membership Roseann Vitale. Membership Committee Chair Lindsay Tobias ran the session as our moderator.
A survey overview was presented with the most relevant questions highlighted. Kerri presented on Newport Group’s findings and compared the 2019 data where applicable. Members of the panel then provided additional insight on the findings as appropriate providing a deeper overall perspective.
Roseann gave an update on the future of the survey and where it’s headed as we strive to make it more relevant and representative of our membership as a whole, including those who have left the bench for alternate or non-traditional roles. It was emphasized that we need ALL of our members to participate to gain the greatest value from these surveys and be able to break down the data in the most meaningful way.
Then it was time for questions, which focused on how the salary breakdowns differ from previous years’ surveys, comparing the results to other healthcare professions, and the potential for releasing selected results from future surveys to the public so they can be accessible to hiring managers and human resources departments.
