Happy Pathologists’ Assistant (PA) Day! Today is a special day on which we celebrate the critical role Pathologists’ Assistants play in patient care, as well as our professional growth and development. It was on this day in 1972 that the founding fathers of AAPA filed our Articles of Incorporation. Since then, the AAPA has grown to more than 2,400 members, many of whom use today to proudly promote the profession and our professional growth to our colleagues, healthcare professionals, and the public.
This year, PA Day falls during ASCP’s Lab Week, the theme of which is “The Lab is Everything”, which plays on the popularity of last year’s Barbie movie. Even organ man is getting in on all the pink fun! In celebration of both PA Day and Lab Week, we’ll be sharing Barbie (and Ken) themed posts throughout the week. Check them out on our social media pages (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram)!

Don’t forget to download the PA Day graphic or a poster from the “It Pays to Know” campaign, and post it in your lab and around your workplace. You can also reach out to your hospital administrator or supervisor using our email template to let them know what PA Day is all about, so they can encourage your colleagues to celebrate you like you deserve. Because PAs are everything!
Be sure to share all of your celebrations using #PathAssistDay and tag us @pathassist on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram.
