The AAPA is now accepting Board of Trustees (BOT) nominations through March 31. There are three seats available for the upcoming 2019-2021 term. The election will be held in September and winners will be announced in October.
Below, BOT member Lindsay McCarley shares why he enjoys the privilege of serving on the Board of Trustees.
“A privilege is something not to be taken for granted. It is special and an honor to have. Being a part of the Board of Trustees (BOT) is just that, a privilege. I have been a member of the AAPA since I graduated from Duke University in 1996. I was on the Administration committee for almost 11 years. Being the chair of the Administration committee was exciting — hard to believe, I know. To interact with such intelligent and wonderful people is special. But, being on the BOT is a privilege and an honor. To be part of the leadership of the AAPA means the world to me. I have the chance to share my ideas with others who I respect and enjoy being around (I hope they feel the same about me). To be able to help my fellow PAs and the AAPA is exciting. It does take time, but who would not want to contribute the time to better their profession? We are still a young organization, and still getting our feet wet, but we have come so far since the beginning, and we have so much yet to accomplish. Our name is being recognized by CAP, ASCP, and other large organizations. They are starting to see all we have to offer. How exciting is that! I know there are fellows who have great ideas they want to share. I know there are fellows who have talents that can better our profession. I know all of you want your organization to prosper. So take the next step, run for the BOT, and be a part of the privilege of helping your profession be great.”
– Lindsay McCarley, PA(ASCP)CM Board of Trustees member
