Abstract: This session will walk you through three autopsy case studies, including relevant scene investigation information or clinical history, gross findings, microscopic findings, and a discussion on the immediate causes of death for each case.
Instruction Level: Intermediate – Refresher course; some basic knowledge required
Learning Objectives: At the end of the presentation, the participant will be able to:
- Recognize the significance of a thorough postmortem examination for all cases.
- Identify causes or risk factors for a pulmonary embolism.
- Identify causes or risk factors for bronchopneumonia.
- Identify causes or risk factors for acute pancreatitis.
- Determine a differential diagnosis based on the decedent’s presenting clinical history or scene investigation.
