2021 Issue 2 of The Cutting Edge Is Now Available!

Dear AAPA Members,
We are pleased to bring you a new issue of THE CUTTING EDGE. This issue is once again packed with content. We have three peer-reviewed manuscripts, recent event recaps, news about upcoming conferences, and much more.
The cover manuscript features our fellow travel grant winner, Jonathan Chen, PA(ASCP), discussing a case of pulmonary osseous metaplasia in a patient with urothelial carcinoma. Our second CE manuscript by Meghan Dorrell, PA(ASCP), is a unique case of salivary squamous cell carcinoma metastasizing to the colon. Lastly, Jennifer Hudson, PA(ASCP)CM, gives a case report of a malignant cylindroma.
In this issue, we also announce the recipient of our first Rising Star Award – check out page 23 to see the honoree. Other features in this issue include a PA Day recap and a description of the new online AAPA timeline created by AAPA Historian, Tom Reilly, PA(ASCP)CM. You’ll also find our usual content including a book review, gross photo tutorial, and meetings and conference chair articles. Plus, don’t miss updates on our much anticipated, in-person annual conference and the upcoming Virtual Summer Symposium (registration is now open!).
While we have all been affected by COVID-19, it has hit closer to home as a friend in our PA community has passed away due to COVID complications. Ted Muraski, PA(ASCP)CM, always kept us laughing and will be sorely missed. We are all saddened by this loss, but we can find some some solace within our community by sharing fond memories of time spent together with him. Please see page 13 for an in memoriam honoring Ted.
You can access the online, interactive version of this issue now by clicking on the journal cover image found here or by visiting the “The Cutting Edge journal” page found under the Member Community area of www.pathassist.org.
If you have opted to receive the journal via postal mail, a copy of your journal is on its way to your mailbox. You can change your preferred delivery method by accessing your member profile.
Sincerely,
Beth Felicelli, PA(ASCP)CM
