About Charlotte
Weather to expect
Temperature
The cold winter weather lingers for a few weeks in early spring. Expect daytime temperatures in the low to mid 60s and evening temperatures in the upper 30s.
Humidity
March welcomes the spring season in Charlotte, which is slightly wetter than winter, but more pleasant due to the low amount of humidity.
Sun & Rain
Spring is unpredictable as cloudy and wet mornings quickly change into bright, sunny days. Wear rain jackets while moving outdoors in Charlotte in March!

Tips for Employer Approval to Attend
Tips for Employer Approval to Attend
The AAPA understands that budgets can be tight, staffing can be short and time can be limited. Since the AAPA is the first choice for pathologists’ assistant-specific education, the AAPA wants all members to attend.
- Be armed with knowledge! Demonstrate the valuable information presented at the conference and how it will help you stay current in the field of pathology. Provide your employer with a schedule of the lectures (and workshops if applicable) that you plan to attend, and offer to present what you’ve learned to your coworkers upon your return.
- Come back with information! Plan to visit the exhibit hall booths/sponsors (and the product demonstrations if applicable) to get information on products or services that your lab needs.
- Provide information! Submit an estimate of travel expenses, including how you plan to keep these costs down (discounted shuttle vs cab, breakfast included in registration rate, etc.).
- Be helpful! Offer suggestions for providing coverage while you are at the conference.
- Use the AAPA! Apply for a travel grant. The AAPA has travel grants available to help cover the cost. Stay up-to-date with the latest opportunities and submission deadlines by updating your contact info and/or following us on social media.
- Shop for deals! Get the best discounted rates available for our events by registering early and booking your room early at the host hotel property.
UPDATE: The AAPA 2020 Spring Meeting has been cancelled. Full refunds will be issued to all registrants. [March 13, 2020; 5:00 PM CDT]
Given the unprecedented nature of this situation, the AAPA will provide a full refund for all who have registered for this meeting.
Additionally, we will offer you a 50% discount on one set of recorded lectures from a prior meeting (Fall 2019, Spring 2019, Fall 2018) to give you an opportunity to replace the CE credits you could have earned from attending the Spring Meeting. A discount code to use for your online purchase within the next six months will be provided upon your request.
Refunds will be returned 100% based on your original method of payment. If you have already requested lecture recordings in lieu of a refund, we will work with you on a case-by-case basis to resolve this in your best interest so you will ultimately receive a full refund and a discounted set of recorded lectures should you so choose.
Again, everyone involved in organizing the Spring Meeting is very sad that the measures taken to slow the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in the cancellation of the meeting. We now learn that our meeting would have been cancelled regardless per North Carolina’s Governor. We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused and hope this will in some way make up for that.
On behalf of the Spring Meeting Committee and the Board of Trustees, we thank you for choosing the AAPA as your source for continuing education.
Stay safe and be well!
