Save time for fun in the sun in Fort Lauderdale!

2023 Spring Meeting Header

Ready to have some fun in Fort Lauderdale?

Join us for the AAPA Spring Meeting, May 8-10!

The AAPA Spring Meeting in Fort Lauderdale, Florida is just a couple weeks away, and we are so excited to get together and enjoy some fun in the sun! (Haven’t registered yet? No worries, there are still several spots available – but you have to register by Monday, May 1st!) While the Spring Meeting is mainly focused on our excellent education offerings, we also encourage you to make time to enjoy all that the beautiful Fort Lauderdale area has to offer (if you can bear to pull yourself away from the beach for at least a few moments!). As you plan your trip, be sure to leave room for these activities in your itinerary:

  • Cruise the waterways: Did you know that Fort Lauderdale is sometimes called the “Venice of America”? With over 300 miles of inland waterways running through the greater Fort Lauderdale area (about 165 miles in the city itself), you can hop on a Water Taxi or river cruise and explore the city from a new angle. Be sure to keep an eye out for amazing mansions and superyachts on Millionaires’ Row along the way!

  • Keep the education going: After the conference is done for the day, don’t stop learning – visit one of these family-friendly favorites! Head to the Museum of Discovery & Science, home to more than 200 interactive exhibits; Butterfly World, the world’s largest butterfly park; and Flamingo Gardens, 60-acres of lush gardens and fascinating wildlife, where you can find some of Florida’s largest and oldest trees.

  • Stroll around town for superb shopping and dining: The Riverwalk (right off the famous Las Olas Boulevard) is a hub for entertainment and events throughout the year. Restaurants and boutiques abound, and there’s plenty of green space if a picnic in the park is more your speed!

  • Take a day trip to the Everglades: About an hour outside the city is the Everglades National Park, a 1.5-million-acre wetlands preserve, home to hundreds of animal species (many of them endangered). Note that there are three different entrances to the park, which are not connected and are accessed through different areas of South Florida.

  • Dive into history: The International Swimming Hall of Fame and Museum – just a quick 15-minute walk from the host hotel – is the mecca and international showplace for swimming, diving, water polo, and synchronized swimming. The Museum, Library, and Archive contain the world’s largest collection of aquatic memorabilia and the single largest source of aquatic books, manuscripts, and literature.
