PA Day is just around the corner! The 14th of April is our time to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of pathologists’ assistants, along with the unique role we bring to laboratory medicine. Use this time to advocate for yourselves, for our profession, and for one another.
One way to accomplish this is by downloading the PA Day poster from the AAPA website and posting it in your lab and around the hospital. For those who are really ambitious, you can ask your hospital to post it through their internal announcement system. Use this email template to reach out to your hospital administrator and explain what PA Day is all about. In addition to the PA Day poster, there are posters from the “It Pays to Know” campaign that you or your facility can download and print, with the option of a less ink-intensive poster for those trying to save ink.

If you have a social media profile, you can also share these posters online for everyone to see. If you do post online, don’t forget to add some of our favorite hashtags, such as #PathassistDay, #grossinggenius, and #ourknivessavelives. The AAPA will also be posting unique content for PA Day, with the Digital Communication subcommittee putting together a series of social media posts titled “50 reasons to love being a PA” (to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the AAPA this year).
If you have any quotes about why you love being a PA and if you would be okay with the AAPA sharing them, email them to us at [email protected], and you might see your quote show up on one of the upcoming AAPA posts.
Don’t forget to mark your calendars for Thursday, April 14th!
