Now Available: AAPA Title Change Exploration Survey Results

Member News

Hello AAPA Members,

The AAPA distributed a survey last year asking for your opinion on whether we should explore a title change. This survey ran from February 10th though February 25th and coincided with a Town Hall to discuss the topic. If you have not gotten a chance to watch the Title Change Town Hall, we encourage you to take some time to view the recording here.

Following the closure of the survey, the Title Change Ad Hoc committee began to review the results. In total, 610 members responded to the survey. In addition to answering various questions about our current title, there were also 549 write-in comments from members voicing their opinion on the title change. There were also 347 titles suggested.

After months of reading through all the responses and comments, we are ready to share the results with you (click here to download). In addition to reviewing the results, we have also discussed next steps in the process as we carefully explore the possibility of a title change. These include writing a peer-reviewed journal article highlighting the results from our survey and our journey to date, as well as beginning more formal conversations with pathologists and other stakeholders.

Please contact us at [email protected] if you have any questions or comments.

Thank you,
Cory Nash, MS, PA(ASCP)CM
Title Change Ad Hoc Committee Lead
