We appreciate each of you, our members, for the critical role you play in supporting pathologists to provide high quality patient care.
It was on this special day in 1972 that the founding fathers of the American Association of Pathologists’ Assistants filed our Articles of Incorporation. The purpose of establishing this Association as outlined in the Articles still holds true today: “This corporation is formed to promote the mutual association of trained pathologists’ assistants, to benefit and further that profession, including the promotion of ethical conduct in that profession, to improve the education of pathologists’ assistants, to inform the public and the medical profession concerning the goals of professional pathologists’ assistants, and to carry out other purposes incidental to the foregoing.”
Since its inception with our five founding fathers, the AAPA has grown and evolved and today stands at over 2,100 members strong. It is incredible to think about how much time and energy has been devoted by our volunteer members over the course of these 49 years in advocating for the PA profession!
We are excited to share that a historical timeline of the profession and the AAPA has been developed and is in the process of being added to the website. This timeline is intended to provide our members with a history of the creation of our Association, its development and success, and how it is intimately involved with the creation and success of our profession. Watch your inbox for the official announcement later this month.
Don’t forget to share how you’re celebrating (and how you’re being celebrated by colleagues) on this special day! Use #PathassistDay and tag @pathassist on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
