Hello AAPA Members,
Have you visited the AAPA Career Center yet? If not, we encourage you to check it out to see all the valuable resources it has to offer! In addition to being able to search open positions across the country and set up email alerts according to your interests, you can also maintain resumes and cover letters directly in your profile. This will make it easy for you to apply directly through the Career Center with just a few clicks when you find a position in which you’re interested.
As a member using the Career Center, you have full control over who has access to your resume. You can opt to keep your resume/cover letter private and only submit it when you apply for jobs through the Career Center. Or, you can give employers access to your resume in the Resume Bank. These will be available anonymously to registered employers (who go through a verification process to make sure they are indeed legitimate employers). If they are interested in connecting about a position after reviewing your resume, they can reach out. If you are reciprocally interested in the opportunity, you’ll be connected to the employer. If you are not interested, no further action is required on your part. The employer will not have access to your full profile details unless you are interested in connecting about the opportunity.
To set up your resume, you have a few options. You can upload an existing document from your device (either as a Word document or PDF). Alternatively, you can build your resume directly in the Career Center platform. In addition to basic details like your contact information and current location, you can enter the following details:
- Summary/Objective
- Work History
- Education
- Military Service
- Career Opportunity Preferences
- Relocation Preferences
- Additional Details Relevant to Your Job Search
Please note: you must fill in all required fields to initially save your resume. After the initial save, however, you can come back and edit your resume as needed.
(Click any of the images below to see an enlarged version.)

Be sure to give your resume a clear and professional title. At the end, don’t forget to hit “Save My Resume”! Here, you can also check the box if you would like to make your resume available to search by verified employers.

After saving a resume, you can view it, edit, delete, send, create a direct link, unpublish, or get a free evaluation by a professional, thanks to the Career Center’s partnership with TopResume®.

You can create and save as many resumes as needed and tailor them to different job types. For example, you may want a resume dedicated specifically to management positions. Your profile will show the resumes you’ve made available in the Resume Bank, those you’ve set to private, and those that are incomplete and may need attention from you. You can also set up multiple cover letters that get sent to employers when you apply for a job directly through the Career Center. (Alternatively, you can enter a new cover letter when applying for a job.)
You can access your resumes at any time under the “Job Seekers” dropdown. Make sure you are logged in to your member account, then select “Manage Resumes”.

Stay tuned for more Career Center feature highlights to see how this resource can greatly benefit you and your career journey!
