AAPA Town Hall Meeting – January 21

AAPA Town Hall Meeting – January 21

Thank you to those of you who responded to the recent Membership Needs survey.  Your feedback helped to shape discussions at our recent Board of Trustees (BOT) strategic planning working weekend.  Building on this and looking at ways to give members more direct access to the BOT, we have planned to offer Town Hall meetings four times per year beginning in 2018.

The topic for our first meeting in January will be international outreach/advocacy.

Members have expressed an interest in promoting the AAPA.  Over the past few years, the BOT has been contacted by our international colleagues to collaborate, with interest to join the AAPA as members.  As a result, the BOT is considering creating an international membership category for those who work outside the U.S. and are not ASCP certified.  International membership could be structured to provide opportunities for CE and networking, but would not allow for voting, accessing the Job Hotline, or holding a leadership role.  This is simply exploratory at this point.

The BOT wants to hear your thoughts on creating this new membership category.  At the Town Hall meeting, you can ask questions or express any concerns you may have.  If you can’t attend, you can always Contact Us with any questions or concerns, and a post-meeting summary will be provided after each meeting to all members.

We all want positive exposure for the AAPA both locally and globally, ultimately ensuring we are the gold standard for pathologists’ assistants.  Please note:  no action will be taken at the Town Hall meeting.  Per the bylaws, adding any new membership category must be voted on and approved by the members.

Mark your calendar now for January 21 at 7 pm CST!  More details on the meeting to follow.
