2023 Issue 1 of The Cutting Edge Is Now Available!

Dear AAPA Members,
We are pleased to bring you the year’s first issue of THE CUTTING EDGE. This issue features many of the content items you as a member of the AAPA depend on for continuing education, professional advocacy, and community building. A special congratulations to Akeida Elliot-Benjamin, whose top Student Delegate manuscript is featured on the cover and available for 1 General AP CE credit. The manuscript explores a detailed approach to vertebral artery dissection in autopsy practice. The second CE manuscript was authored by another former Student Delegate, Michael Gellner, MHS, PA(ASCP)CM, and is available for 1 Advanced AP credit. AAPA fellow members and students create the educational content we depend on to provide top quality publications to our members.
As we approach the 10th anniversary of PA Day (April 14), I encourage each of you to consider how recognition and appreciation of our profession begins at an individual level. If your job doesn’t celebrate you on PA Day, celebrate yourself! Hang your own banners, bake your own cake, and pass out party hats. Trumpet your successes and contributions. Find an event preview and learn about some more ways you can help advocate for our profession, on page 14. Plus, check out the “50 Reasons We Love Being Pathologists’ Assistants” feature on page 15, and be sure to share your own reasons on social media!
This quarter, we also feature conference updates, a report from the new Student Committee chair, a member spotlight, and much more!
You can access the online, interactive version of this issue now by clicking on the journal cover image found here or by visiting the “The Cutting Edge journal” page found under the Member Community area of www.pathassist.org.
If you have opted to receive the journal via postal mail, a copy of your journal is on its way to your mailbox. You can change your preferred delivery method by accessing your member profile.
Sincerely,

Alice Levin, PA(ASCP)CM Assistant Editor, The Cutting Edge [email protected]

We extend our deepest condolences to Beth Felicelli, Senior Editor of The Cutting Edge, on the recent loss of her husband. Her contributions to the AAPA are invaluable, and we hope that time away from her responsibilities will leave space for healing and peace.
