Abstract: During this webinar, presenters will discuss topics including cardiac conduction system dissection, normal fetal cardiac anatomy, and pulmonary embolism with relation to autopsy pathology.
Instruction Level: Intermediate – Refresher course; some basic knowledge required
Learning Objectives: At the end of the presentation, the participant will be able to:
- Know when it would be appropriate to sample the atrioventricular node.
- Know the anatomical landmarks of the atrioventricular node of the heart.
- Identify the normal changes in the anatomy of the heart during early gestation and be able to apply this knowledge to their day-to-day practice.
- Identify the normal morphologic characteristics of the three segments of the heart, which are the atriums, ventricles, and arterial trunks.
- Describe what an embolism is.
- Decide which dissection method to use based on a decedent’s clinical history.
- List the steps for a pulmonary embolism dissection.
