2024 Issue 3 of The Cutting Edge Is Now Available!

Dear AAPA Members,
We are pleased to bring you the next issue of THE CUTTING EDGE! This issue packs in some great content as always. Our two CE manuscripts both fall into the Advanced Pathology category and are interesting cancer cases. The cover manuscript, written by Cassandra Schmutz, MS, PA(ASCP)CM, is a 2024 Fellow Travel Grant winner and features a rare location for osteosarcoma in the jaw. The 2023 Student Non-Delegate Travel Grant winner, Salem Sullivan, wrote our second CE manuscript regarding a pleomorphic sarcoma in the breast. Our third peer-reviewed manuscript, submitted by fellow member Olivia Josephsen, MS, MHS, PA(ASCP), features a rare complication of sickle cell disease: plastic bronchitis, which obstructs the airways and, in this instance, was the cause of death in a five-year-old boy.
In this issue, you’ll also find an update from the Legislative Subcommittee, discussing their “Why Licensure” campaign (pg. 14); a recap of the 2024 Summer Meeting, which was held in San Diego this past July (pg. 16); the BOT Chair report noting changes to our board and association management company (pg. 20); a member spotlight (pg. 22); and much more. Plus, turn to pg. 19 to get a sneak peek of photos from the 49th Annual Conference, and stay tuned for the full recap in Issue 4!
You can access the online, interactive version of this issue now by clicking on the journal cover image found here or by visiting the “The Cutting Edge journal” page found under the Member Community area of www.pathassist.org.
