Abstract: What are the PA leadership roles and how does one make the transition? As PAs, oftentimes we are thrust into a managerial-leadership role within the laboratory. This may be by choice or as continued pressure from healthcare reimbursements due to limited staffing. Management or leadership – just like healthcare – continues to evolve with ever-increasing demands, yet, at the heart, the key concepts are ever-present. How does a leader face the day-to-day pressures, all while maintaining the quality of the services that are required for pathology diagnostics? This can only be accomplished by acquiring the right skills and surrounding yourself with high performers that excel as a collective team. In this webinar, we will cover how to prepare and make that transition with confidence. This will include some skills that can help facilitate your success as a supervisor, manager, or executive director. This will be an interactive session with several discussion breaks as we review each level of leadership.
Instruction Level: Basic – Entry level; no prior knowledge of subject necessary
Learning Objectives: At the end of the presentation, the participant will be able to:
- Define different levels of leadership in the PA profession including Lead PA, PA Supervisor, PA-AP Manager, and Executive Director by outlining education and experience requirements and the scope of responsibilities that can be expected for each role.
- Understand how to navigate the leadership ladder within your organization by managing expectations and successfully transitioning from one level to another.
- Identify differences between management and leadership.
