In the years to come, I hope to present at various other international pathology conferences and further promote the Pathologists’ Assistant profession. The ultimate vision would be to assist a university in Africa in the creation of the first Pathologist Assistant program in Africa.”

ASCP 40 Under Forty Honorees!
ASCP’s 40 Under Forty is a program that recognizes the future leaders of pathology and laboratory medicine. Applications are submitted for Pathologists, Pathology Residents, and Laboratory Professionals under the age of forty, who are demonstrating stellar achievements in the early stages of their careers.
This year two AAPA members received this distinction! We are proud to announce Jonathan Bakst, MBA, MHS, PA(ASCP)CM and Alejandra Meza, MHS, MLS(ASCP)CMPACM as honorees.
Jonathan Bakst

Jon has been a Fellow member of the AAPA since 2001 when he graduated from Duke University. Later that year, he took and passed the AAPA Fellowship Examination and was later grandfathered into ASCP certification. Jon was previously the PR Committee Chair and has served on the Board of Trustees since 2011. The AAPA is grateful to Jon for his active role in shaping the future of our association!
Alejandra Meza
MHS, MLS(ASCP)CMPACM
Alejandra joined the AAPA as a student member in 2013 while attending West Virginia University. She graduated in late 2014 and passed the Pathologists’ Assistant Certification Exam in early 2015. The AAPA is proud to highlight this rising star and her ambitious goals.
