Medical Laboratory Professionals Week (Lab Week) is April 20 – 26, 2014
The AAPA would like to thank our members for the incredible contributions you make every day in the laboratory. Our membership (1600+ and growing) makes up a small but extremely valuable segment of laboratory practitioners – a group that is over 300,000 strong and performs and interprets greater than 10 million laboratory tests in the U.S. each year.
The goal of Medical Laboratory Professionals Week is to increase the public awareness and understanding of clinical laboratory personnel. Those of us who work behind the scenes often do so with little to no recognition, aside from the occasional “thank you.” The vast majority of patients do not realize the labor needed to turn their tissue specimen into a diagnosis. This week, in addition to Pathologists’ Assistant Day, we celebrate the role we play in providing quality patient care as a pathologists’ assistant.
Please be sure to take a few minutes to thank your colleagues; those in your laboratory section and those who work in the clinical laboratory sections. We all deserve this week of recognition for a job well done!
